MON 04 MARCH 2013

Mon 04 MARCH 2013
So it’s finally 2013 and what a great year we are going to have, especially here at HOME AFFAIRS mid century FURNITURE.
We have had some great pieces come and go as quickly as they appeared on the shop floor. Like this wonderful 2-seater couch which we had upholstered in this amazing retro green fabric. It wasn’t on the floor a week and some happy customer bought it for their home.

We also had this lovely little wingback chair which was upholstered in a men’s suiting fabric. A man rode in one day on his bicycle and bought and came and collected it a few days later.

We still have the 2-seater couch upholstered in the same fabric available (R4200).

Another amazing piece we had was this extension table dating back to the 1920’s. The base was made from American Elm and the top was made from South American Yellowwood. When you open the extension it had a paper label that said it was manufactured by FURN CORP in Johnson City Tennessee. When completely close it stood as a folded down hall table, with the round sides folded down (and could possibly seat 2 people). Once the side were up it became a comfortable round table which could seat 6 people and with the extensions in place it could then seat 8 people. Truelu a magnificent piece. This too was quickly sold.

But now for what we do have available and what’s new.
New on the floor is this lovely little reader chair. We have had it recovered in this plush soft green fabric. (R2900).

Also new on the floor is this funky little drinks/tea trolley(R1100). All 3 trays can be lifted off, as well as the two handles and then the whole trolley folds up for quick and easy storage. I love clever design.

I obtained these two government occasional office chairs and had them recovered in this lime green vinyl. They are R1500 each.

I have brought in some lovely collectable pieces as well.

Namely this Italian Decanter set from the 1970’s (R340).

There is also this Crown Devon deco green jug (R150).

And this ceramic Tree Trunk Vase (R370).

And then there is this lovely yellow jug with a small rabbit on the side (R120).

And here is a wonderful little find that will high light some child’s room, a ceramic mother elephant and baby elephant money box (R90).

Also amongst my shopping I found this ceramic dog (R220).

These cat bookends look incredible in bright yellow (R490).

A view of two mid century chairs (R2300 each) with Quagga Fabric cushions – 60x60cm (R350 each), now available in blue and white (on the chairs) and rec and white (stacked on the floor).

A view of the front of the store with a grouping of yellow and white occasional tables and some glass gifting.

A view of a 60’s sideboard (R3500) with a grouping of white fertility dolls, tin geraffes and some 1938 maps of Southern Africa and Africa itself.

A view of a mid century chest of drawers (R2700) with a grouping of lamps.
